At the close of the 2009 NFL season, the Pittsburgh Steelers were left with a bad taste in their mouth. After finishing 9-7 and failing to make the playoffs, the Steelers became one of the few teams in NFL history to not make the playoffs after winning the Super Bowl the season prior. The offseason for the team has been tumultuous at best. All Pro QB Ben Roethlisberger has again been accused of sexual assault and now has WR Santanio Holmes joining him with his own assault case for throwing a glass at a woman’s face in Club Rain. With all of that going on, the franchise has managed a clear path to return to the playoffs. The team is in dire need of a CB and need their defensive line revamped. One of their major concerns has been temporarily fixed as the team signed ILB Larry Foote. The team also signed safety Will Allen, WR Arnez Battle, LB Derrick Doggett, WR Antwaan Randle El and OT Jonathan Scott. Coaching changes include the dismissal of offensive line coach Larry Zierlein and special teams coordinator Bob Ligashesky and QB Coach Ken Anderson retired at the beginning of January. Lou Spanos also left to become the linebackers coach for the Washington Redskins. On January 13th, the team hired Sean Kugler to take over the offensive line coach position. The odds are against the team from repeating into the Super Bowl and unless some changes are made to the O-Line allowing RB Parker to have a better season than last year. The Steelers will need their support so go out and get your Pittsburgh Steelers tickets and cheer them onto the Super Bowl. |
